Private Equity Company Keroch, Inc. Acquires Sneakerplay.com

San Francisco, CA (25 March 2009) - Jerry Seinfeld may own 500 pairs of white sneakers, but if you are a member of SNEAKERPLAY, that type of dedication would not surprise you. Fans of Sneakerplay.com, the leading social website for urban culture and fashion, are serious about their sneakers and their play. As a result, when the founders decided to hang up their shoes and put SNEAKERPLAY up for sale, they were very picky on the type of purchasers they wanted. Today, that search has ended, and SNEAKERPLAY has found a new home with the owners of Keroch, Inc. The terms of the sale were not disclosed.
This acquisition by Keroch, a private equity company based in San Francisco, California, represents Keroch’s first stride into the social networking arena.
“We are delighted to be able to step into such a tight-knit community,” said Brian Rothenberg, Chief Operating Officer of Keroch, who will take on the role of Chief Sneakerman at SNEAKERPLAY. “The founders of Sneakerplay have done a great job of creating a compelling and fun experience for the community. Our job now is not to trip up and just keep things growing.” Rothenberg added, “With over 3 million page views every month and a very active and growing user base, this is one of the most engaged audiences on the internet. We are looking forward to providing even more traction by adding in new features and functionality.”
The owners of SNEAKERPLAY are happy to have found a new home for their extremely loyal audience. “We looked at a number of possible purchasers for Sneakerplay, and at the end of the day, we felt that the guys at Keroch were the best fit for our community,” said Robleh Jama, Co-Founder of SNEAKERPLAY. “We are excited to have found a good home for the site, and we will be working with Keroch to make sure they can hit the ground running.”
